The Delegation of the European Commission Approved the Tender Dossier for the Danube Bridge 2 Project

 The Delegation of the European Commission approved yesterday, May 16th, 2006 the tender dossier for the drafting and constructing works of the project “Building of new combined (railway and road) bridge over the River Danube near the towns Vidin (Bulgaria) and Kalafat (Rumania)”. This is one of the biggest and most complicated infrastructure projects, which are being accomplished by the Ministry of Transport. It includes – the drafting and constructing of the Bridge (road and railway), with four roadways and one railway line, as well the building of the contiguous road and railway infrastructure.

In accordance with the procedures of the European Commission, during the next week the Ministry of Transport will send the approved tender dossier to the short list firms.

The total amount of the project is 236 000 000 Euro, 226 000 000 Euro are intended for constructing works and 10 000 000 Euro for pre-projecting examination, drafting, and consulting help.

The project has the financial support of the European Union programs PHARE and ISPA, The European Investment Bank, The Credit Institution for reconstructing of the Federal Republic of Germany, The French Agency for Development and the Bulgarian state budget. The time for constructing of the Bridge is 38 months.
