Deputy Minister Vesela Gospodinova Opened the Conference “Balkans Intermodal and Logistics 2006”

The Deputy Minister of Transport Vesela Gospodinova opened the international conference for development of the freight transport and logistic in the southeast Europe– “Balkans Intermodal and logistics 2006”. It is taking place today and tomorrow in “Kempinsky Hotel Zografski” – Sofia. It’s promoted by the European Center for shipping and Intermodal Support (Shortsea&Intermodal Promotion Center-Bulgaria), with the support of the Ministry of Transport, EA “Railway Administration” and BDZ. Representatives of the European Intermodal Association (EIA), the International Union for Combined Road-Rail Transport (UIRR), the European Shippers Council (ESC) are participating in the forum.

The goal of the conference is to encourage the Bulgarian, regional and international transport companies to accept and implement more actively Intermodal and logistic transport routines.

During the meeting the participants will have the possibility to exchange actual business information, intermodal transportation projects and offers of new transport facilitations.

The goal is to improve the transport and logistic services, to modernize the ports and the intermodal logistic centers in the region.

The Director of the Directorate “National Transport Policy” Dimitar Savov gave a lecture on the theme “Aspects of the Transport policy of the Republic of Bulgaria for the Development of the Intermodal Transport.
