Minister Mutafchiev Attended the Presentation of Equipment for Hand Luggage Examination, Given as a Present to Sofia Airport by GTZ

The Minister of Transport Peter Mutafchiev visited the new terminal of Sofia Airport today. In the presence of Mr. Michael Geier - Ambassador of the Federal Republic of Germany in Bulgaria, Doctor Leo Kreuz from the Federal Ministry of economical cooperation and development of Germany, Doctor Elke Siel - GTZ - Director of Directorate Europe, Caucasus and Central Asia and Ms. Marietta Slavkova - Head of the GTZ Coordination Office in Sofia, a present from the German Society GTZ and the Federal Ministry for Economical Cooperation and Development was given to the Sofia Airport - Detector for recognition of drugs and explosives.

The detector Sabre 4000 is intended to improve the security measures at the airport. With its help and with the procedures developed by the Bulgarian experts, the security of all passengers at the airport will be guaranteed.

The equipment has been produced by the German company Smiths Heimann GmbH and was delivered by its representation office in Bulgaria.

The delivery of the detector includes installation and exploitation training.

Till now, with the financial support of the Federal Ministry for Economical Cooperation and development of Germany, accomplished through GTZ the following equipment was also delivered to Sofia Airport:

- Roentgen device for checking of hand luggage, Model Hi Scan 7555I;

- Roentgen device for checking of passengers registered luggage, Model Hi Scan 100100V.
