Minister Mutafchiev Will Open “Ferryboat Terminal Silistra”

16.11.2007

The Minister of Transport Peter Mutafchiev will open the new built "Ferryboat Terminal Silistra". The Ceremony will take place on Monday, November 19th, at 11am. In addition, the first tour of the ferry line Silistra - Kalarash will be accomplished.

The Mayor of Silistra Ivo Andonov and the District Governor Svetlana Velkova, deputies from the region will attend the event.

The concessionaire "Danube Industry Park" will present its business program regarding the terminal. Minister Mutafchiev and representatives will make official statements.

"Ferryboat Terminal Silistra" is a territory separated zone from the Port for public usage with national importance Ruse. It was built in order to fulfill the obligations taken with the contract for concession and building, signed on February 03, 2006 between the Bulgarian state, represented by the Minister of Transport and "MINERAL IN" EAD - Sofia. The time of the contract is 35 years.

This is the first concession in Bulgaria, which is being accomplished on the principle: build, operate and return. The project for building of a new ferryboat terminal on the river Danube with financial means of the state, as well as with private capital is the first project accomplished in our country.

The port terminal is intended to process ro-ro freights and post, as well as to offer passengers- and sea-technical services (water supplies, phone services and electricity for the ships). Its area covers 65 189 quadrate meters.
