More Transparency for Public Procurement in MTITC

The Minister of Transport, Information Technology and Communications Aleksandar Tsvetkov and Tsvetan Nonchev, the representative of the organization "United Associations for Civic Control," signed a Memorandum for Cooperation. The event took place in the MTITC's building today.

 

With this document clear and effective rules are set for cooperation between the nongovernmental organizations and MTITC. In an official statement during the signing of the Memorandum Minister Tsvetkov said that the goal of this cooperation is to improve society's trust in the institutions and to allow for stronger civic control.

 

With this document, members of the organization will have the possibility to monitor procedures for handling public procurement and concessions. In this way, effectiveness and transparency are ensured in the spending of budgetary and non-budgetary resources. Control will be exercised by abiding the laws of the Bulgarian legislation.

 

The organization "United Associations for Civic Control" will inform the Minister of Transport, Information Technology and Communication for discovered irregularities, unfulfilled contractual obligations and various other violations.

 

There is a plan for having periodic joint meetings, discussions and monitoring events for activities connected to the areas of transport, information technology and communications. Additionally, there will be joint press conferences during which the most current situation of these areas will be presented as well as measures planned for their improvement.

 

Experts from both sides will prepare joint stands, suggestions and other documents to present to the relevant authorities with the goal of having set government actions towards the improvement of the transport, information technology and communications infrastructure in the country.
