The European Commission Terminated an Infringement Procedure against Bulgaria for a Delay in Incorporating the INSPIRE Directive

The European Commission terminated an infringement procedure against Bulgaria for a delay in incorporating the INSPIRE Directive into national legislation.

The deadline for incorporating the directive into national legislation was May 15, 2009. The Access to Spatial Information Act incorporates the requirements of the directive. This way Bulgaria did its initial duty for the creation of All European Infrastructure for Spatial Information.

The directive for spatial information INSPIRE has the purpose of supporting governments in the creation of policies in the area of ecology and the protection the life and health of people.
