Bulgaria became part of the international project " Via Carpatia "

Deputy Minister of Transport, Information Technology and Communications Kamen Kichev signed today the Declaration Via Carpatia for continuance of the shortest road route of the north - south axis connecting Lithuania, Poland, Slovakia, Hungary, Romania, Bulgaria and Greece.
By signing the declaration is formally announced the expansion of the project " Via Carpatia " to Greece, Bulgaria and Romania. Expansion to these new countries will encourage transit traffic in the north - south axis between Baltic and Black Sea. The objective is the development of road infrastructure in the region and its inclusion to the transeuropean transport network (TEN-T), and thus the economic development of eastern regions of the European Union.
The International Project Via Carpatia will enable a full load along the major road projects which our country builds on the route of the Pan-European Transport Corridor IV and the bridge over the Danube river at Vidin - Calafat.
At the insistence of Romania and Bulgaria to the declaration are included two additional variations on the route, respectively - to the port of Constanta and to Sofia - Svilengrad - Black Sea countries of TRACECA.
The proposal of the Bulgarian side of the diversion Sofia - Svilengrad aims for the overall coverage of the Black Sea basin in the project, as the route of the deviation matches completely the Corridor IV. |
