The Prime Minister Boiko Borisov and Minister Aleksandar Tsvetkov gave a start of the project for rehabilitation of the railway line Plovdiv-Bourgas

The Prime Minister of the Republic of Bulgaria Boiko Borisov together with the Minister of Transport, Information Technology and Communications Aleksandar Tsvetkov gave a start of the project for rehabilitation of the railway line Plovdiv-Bourgas. This is the biggest railway project that will be financed under the Operational Programme “Transport” in this program period.

We are launching one of the main projects for the construction of a modern European railway in Bulgaria, said Aleksandar Tsvetkov. Although the project is the major, it is only a part of all that is to be done in the railway sector. By the end of the year we will make a treaties for all projects, financed under the Operational Programme “Transport”, added the Minister.

If we keep the good pace of work and the confidence of our European partners in the next program period we could expect more than 2,5 milliards Euro European financing in the railway transport, said Aleksandar Tsvetkov.


"600 new jobs will be opened in the repairs of parts of the railway line Plovdiv – Bourgas. I have always said that the movement bring money and investment. The business develops and there is a job for people”, said the Premier Boiko Borisov at the official ceremony that took place at the railway station Kaloyanovetz in the region of the city of Stara Zagora.

The ceremony was attended by the Vice Premier and Minister of Finance Simeon Djankov, the Ambassador of Italy Stefano Benazzo, MPs, local government representatives.
