An expert group will settle the issues with the bus transport

An expert group will discuss the proposals, related to the safety and security in the accomplishing of bus transportation of passengers and will propose legislative changes. That was negotiated between the Minister of Transport, Information Technology and Communications, Ivaylo Moskovski, the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior Tsvetan Tsvetanov and representatives of the branch organizations in the field of bus transport at the round table that has been held today. The discussion was initiated by the Minister of Transport, Information Technology and Communications, Ivaylo Moskovski on the occasion of the tragic accident, happened at the Tracia high road.

The expert group will begin its work in the beginning of July. By that time the branch organizations will send their proposals that subsequently will be generalized and discussed by the experts. In the expert group will be included representatives of the administration, the branch and specialist in road safety. In the briefest time the experts will take a common stand on the changes and measures that should bring to the finally resolution of all urgent issues about the bus transport.

Different proposals for improvement of the safety and security of the bus transport, made by the branch organizations were discussed during the talks. The bus carters asked the country to control the technical and medical examinations as well as to be increased the joint inspections of the Ministry of Interior and EA “Automobile Administration”. They called increase of the administrative capacity of EA AA; a revision of the existing transport scheme; increase of the requirements for the service bases of the bus carters; increase of the hours in the teaching of the drivers; in case of serious disturbance – deprivation of the licenses of the bus companies;

Minister Ivaylo Moskovski said that the bus carters should pay more attention to the technical condition of their buses. Variants for more serious sanctions for the infractions will be searched. At the moment is examined the possibility for additional stimulation of the employees responsible for the control in Automobile Administration. This is meant to decrease the corrupt practices and to improve the results of the checks, said minister Moskovski. He said that it is worked hardly for the introduction of new requirements in the doing of the periodic technical inspections. The new requirements will include – technical means for taking pictures and documenting of the technical inspection; observation of the technical inspections online, introduction of an information system for e-registration of the made periodic inspections.

Representatives of the Ministry of Transport, Information Technology and Communications, the Ministry of Interior, EA “Automobile Administration” and deputies of the Transport, Information Technologies and Communications Committee to the National Assembly took part in the discussion.
