Minister Ivaylo Moskovski inspected the airport and the port in Bourgas

The Minister of Transport, Information Technology and Communications Ivaylo Moskovski has controlled the work done in the implementation of the concession contract of the airport in Bourgas. He was acquainted with the investment intentions of Fraport Twin Star Airport Management by the executive director Dirk Shusdziara. The concessionaire of the airports in Bourgas and Varna is planning to invest 75 million € in both terminals, that should be put into operation until May, 2013.

The state will give the necessary support to the concessionaire for the implementation of the investment intentions but will control the investment program, said Minister Moskovski. According to the minister the state and “Fraport” should be good partners as that is a common interest.

Ivaylo Moskovski considered the major infrastructure projects, implemented at the Bourgas airport after the approval of the revision of the city plan. Among them are the extention of the platform with four additional airplane places, the new cargo store, the recently built administration building and the new fire station that is under construction.

Minister Moskovski has rendered assistance to the mayor of Bourgas municipality, Dimitar Nikolov to be established a station of the public transport at the airport. At the moment the nearest bus station is situated about a kilometer from the airport. Representatives of “Fraport” promised that by the end of the month will provide the necessary space.

Minister Ivaylo Moskovski discussed with the mayor of the city Dimitar Nikolov the project for the so-called Super Bourgas. The investment project affords an opportunity for opening of the city to the sea, moving of the industrial activity as well as possibility for building of a new passenger port terminal. The project was suggested to be within the framework of the Operational Programme “Transport”. During this program period can be finished its first phase that includes the construction of a cruise terminal. The minister accentuated that Bulgaria should develop the project Super Bourgas.

The Minister visited the engine-shed of Bulgarian State Railways in Bourgas. He discussed with the employees the planned investments and the government policy for development of the railway transport. The employees shared that for the first time Bulgarian minister has visited the engine-shed. Minister Moskovski promised them that the next week will begin actions for solution of the most pressing issues.
At the end of his visit Ivaylo Moskovski inspected the Bourgas port. The executive director of the port Stoyan Dimov informed the minister that for the first four-month period of the year the earnings of the company have increased with 22% compared to the planned and with more than 14% compared to the same period of 2010. The earns amount to 908 thousands lv.
