The Growth of the Branch – a Good Prerequisite for the Full Membership in the European Union

Bulgaria and in particular the Ministry of Transport has achieved much in the development of the Branch, which is a good prerequisite for the full membership in the European Union from January 01, 2007 on.
This said the special Stability Pact coordinator for Southeast Europe Erhard Bussek at the meeting with the Minister of Transport Peter Mutafchiev today. The meeting attended also the honor president of the Stability Pact Business Consultation Council Nicos Eftimiadis.

During the conversation Minister Mutafchiev express his satisfaction from the co-operation so far between the representatives of the Ministry of Transport and the Stability Pact, and said he hopes that it continues in the future.

The good investment climate, which is comparable with that in the EU member countries, was one of the main topics during the debates. Minister Mutafchiev pointed out that our country endeavors an increase of the transport branch economic effectiveness and competitiveness with the means of market liberalization, privatization, concessions and other kinds of public-private partnership. One of the Ministry of Transport main priorities is the accelerated carrying out of important transport infrastructure projects. “Building of a new combined bridge (both railway and road), over the river Danube, near Vidin- Kalafat” and “Renovation of the railway section Sofia-Nish” will be fulfilled with the active support of the Stability Pact.
