Agency ECNIS started the optical infrastructure construction of the project for high-speed internet in Bulgaria

The first contracts of the project for the establishment of high-speed broadband access in Bulgaria were signed by Executive Agency "Electronic Communication Networks and Information Systems” (ECNIS) with the consortium "Broadband Bulgaria" and the Consortium "SSV-TSV 2015” of the public procurement the task being to "Design and construction of optical cable routes in order to develop high-speed broadband access in Bulgaria by building the critical, secure, safe and reliable public ICT infrastructure. "
"Broadband Bulgaria" Consortium, which includes "Telelink" EAD and "Marmet" Ltd., will design and build optical cable routes in Northern Bulgaria for the needs of EA ECNIS which is a beneficiary of the project. The total value of the contract is 11,815,683 leva excl. VAT.
"SSV-TSV 2015" Consortium, where SE "Communications Construction and Rehabilitation" is the leading partner, will design and build optical cable routes in Southern Bulgaria. The contract value is 10,672,352 leva excl. VAT. The guarantee period of both contracts is 10 years for all types of newly completed building constructions, 8 years for the optical cable network and related equipment and 5 years for delivered and installed equipment.
The optical cable route in Southern and Northern Bulgaria should be ready by 24.09.2014. Then Executive Agency “Electronic Communication Networks and Information Systems" will organize a tender for the selection of a network operator that has to maintain and administer the finalized optic cable infrastructure. The conditions for the selection of an operator are defined by the European Commission and include the requirement for the constructed infrastructure to be used by both public institutions and private companies having equal access to it. The contract for its administration and the maintenance will be for a period of 13 years.
The signing event was attended by the Deputy-Minister of Transport, Information Technology and Communications, Georgi Todorov, and Evelina Stoyanova, State expert in Directorate General “Programming of the Regional Development” at the Ministry of Regional Development.
The project “High-speed broadband development in Bulgaria by constructing a critical, secure, safe and reliable public ICT infrastructure” is implemented with the financial support of Operational Program “Regional Development” co-financed by the European Union through the European Regional Development Fund. |
