Deputy Minister Petar Kirov launched the construction of a new Coastal Center at Port of Burgas

16.04.2014

About 2 million lev are invested in the construction of the new Coastal Center of Port Burgas. That was said by the Deputy Minister of Transport, Information Technology and Communications, Petar Kirov, during the official start of the construction works on the site. The event was attended by the Mayor of Burgas, Dimitar Nikolov, the Director General of National Company "Port Infrastructure", Angel Zaburtov, the Executive Director of  "Port of Burgas" Nikolai Tishev and others.

„Thanks to Operational Programme „Transport”, over 30 million lev for the development of Management Information System Vessel Traffic (VTMIS)" have been invested", said Peter Kirov. According to him, the project contributes to improving the safety of shipping and fulfillment of the obligation of Bulgaria as a member of the European Union.

As a result of the implementation of the third phase of the project, the already functioning part will be expanded so that it covers the entire coastline and allows for the integration of all communication subsystems into a single national maritime information system. "National Centre for e-documents for shipping ("one-stop-shop") will also be established.

The construction of Coastal Center in Bourgas is part of one of the lots of the project. The architecture complies with the appearance of the new maritime station, which is located in immediate vicinity. The current coastal station is located in a building constructed in 1997 as a post roadstead of Port Burgas. As a result of long exploitation the main structure reached maximum capacity and it does not allow any further extensions. This imposes the construction of a new Coastal Center to meet the latest requirements.
