Minister Danail Papazov inspects the Lot of "Struma" highway that is under construction

The Minister of Transport, Information Technology and Communications Danail Papazov inspected today the Lot of "Struma" highway that is under construction. Among others the Deputy Minister Petar Kirov, experts from the Managing Authority of Operational Programme "Transport", and the beneficiary took part in the inspection.

Minister Danail Papazov inspected one of the two tunnels that are being constructed within Lot 2 ( Doupnitsa - Blagoevgrad). The first asphalt layers have been laid along one of the sites of the route - near Boboshevo junction. The contractor is working at a good pace. The archaeological studies of the sites are to be completed, which would allow for the construction of the entire route. In this regard Minister Papazov met with archaeologists working on the project. They claimed that they would do everything possible to complete the studies as soon as possible so as to leave the entire route to the construction workers.

During the inspection of Lot 4 (Sandanski - Kulata) Minister Danail Papazov stressed that he expected speeding up of the construction works during the summer months. According to him all efforts should be engaged so as to complete the construction in the shortest possible time. "With the start of summer the traffic to and from Greece intensifies, so we need to ensure it is fast and convenient", added Minister Papazov.

The contractor of Lot 2 is Consortium "Struma- Lot 2" and the value of the construction contract is nearly 359 million lev VAT included. For Lot 4 " Sandanski - Kulata" the contractor is Actor ASD and the contract amounts to over 67 million lev VAT included.
