22.05.2014

Deputy Minister Anton Ginev said that reducing the number of accidents and their consequences is a priority. The effectiveness of road safety policy depends on the behavior of road users, and therefore it is necessary to constantly improve the quality of the training system paying particular attention to young drivers. He added that in recent years a major reform in the training and examinations for drivers was made. The organization and control in this area has been improved, as this will result in upgrading skills, discipline and responsibility of drivers on the road, said Deputy Minister Anton Ginev.

For the first quarter of this year the supervisory bodies of the Executive Agency "Automobile Administration" inspected over 74,000 vehicles and issued over 4,700 tickets. For this period 141 vehicles were withdrawn from circulation for illegal operations. This year 1,200 buses and drivers transporting children and students have been inspected and more than 20 tickets issued.

The collection "Every life is worth it" consists of interviews, opinions and advice related to road safety by radio "Focus" show "Shared responsibility". There are 1500 copies published, as the aim of the authors is to reach everyone who is engaged in road safety.

The authors of the book are Koycho Roussev - Chairman of SOAT and National Transport Association, board member of AEBTRI and Alex Kesyakov - Secretary of State-Public Consultative Commission on Road Safety.
