The contract with the concessionaire of Ferryboat Terminal Silistra was signed Today

The Minister of Transport Peter Mutafchiev and the executive head of “Mineral in” LTD Liubomir Evstatiev signed today the contract for giving the ferryboat terminal Silistra under concession. The ceremony took place in the Ministry of Transport.

The ferryboat terminal Silistra is a territory differentiated zone from the Port for public transport with national importance Ruse – object – public state property, part of which will be built from and with concessionaire resources.

After the signing of the contract the minister of Transport Peter Mutafchiev declared that this is the first concession in Bulgaria to be materialized on the principal – build, operate and deliver. The project for building of a new ferryboat terminal on the river Danube with state means, together with private capital is the first of its kind, fulfilled in our country. “The signing of this contract today is another step toward the liberalization of the port services market and also a strengthening of the concurrency”, said Minister Mutafchiev.

Liubomir Evstatiev, from his side, said that the ferryboat terminal Silistra is very important for the progress of the Balkans, for the trance boundary cooperation between Bulgaria and Rumania and at last but not least for the district. A working installation must be present to the end of the year, as it is put down in the concessionaire project, said Mr. Evstatiev.

Realization of the program PHARE project – Trance boundary cooperation for improvement of the local and trance boundary infrastructures between Bulgaria and Rumania is aimed with the winning of financial stable private investors, as well to facilitate the transportation of goods and vehicles between the two countries. The goal is also to encourage the economic development, the cultural exchange and the integration of the two boundary regions Silistra – Kalarash. With the implementing of the project, a modern exploitation conditions will be created, to ensure intensive internal stream, as well an international traffic Silistra –Kalarash – Reni (Ukraine).
