Minister Ivaylo Moskovski examined the most damaged sections of the railway following the heavy rains

05.12.2014

The Minister of Transport, Information Technology and Communications, Ivaylo Moskovski, inspected the railway sections where train traffic was disrupted due to the complicated weather conditions.

The situation is the most serious in the stations Krastets - Raduntsi where earlier today trains did not operate due to rocks fallen on the railway track.

In the region of Karnobat - Sindel trains operate normally. Yesterday, late in the evening the traffic was restored after a rock had fallen on the track and there was no voltage along the overhead line.

Currently, due to heavy rains, the movement of trains along the railway section Galabovo - Simeonovgrad has been interrupted since 15:35 pm. The area is closed due to flooded railway tracks and damage to the railway infrastructure.

In the section Simeonovgrad - Nova Zagora, the emergency services are awaiting the water to drain in order for the restoration works to begin.

Minister Moskovski was informed that within the region of Vidin, the rain and low temperatures have caused icing of the overhead lines, however emergency teams of National Railway Infrastructure Company have taken adequate measures and the situation is under control.

Minister Ivaylo Moskovski continues to personally monitor the situation of the railway infrastructure in the country.
