All school buses inspected before the first school day

15.09.2015

Since the beginning of the month we have inspected all companies that have contracts for the transportation of children and students during this school year, stated the Executive Director of Executive Agency "Automobile Administration" Tsvetelin Tsvetanov today, during an inspection in the capital. He added that the campaign is an initiative of the Minister of Transport, Information Technology and Communications Ivaylo Moskovski, and the main objective is to improve the safety and security of children and students through some permanent monitoring.

Tsvetelin Tsvetanov announced that they have checked all 1196 buses and 1175 bus drivers that transport children and students to schools in the country. He also added that due to violations some 11 tickets were issued as two vehicles had not passed technical inspection, one bus was not equipped with a tachograph and some nine other violations, which were subsequently dealt with, included faulty lights, fire extinguishers and windscreen wipers. Last year there was a significant reduction in violations especially in serious violations related to the technical condition of vehicles, which indicates that school buses are safe and the drivers are prepared to transport children and students. The reason for these results, as Mr. Tsvetanov emphasized, is the permanent control.

The Executive Director of Executive Agency "Automobile Administration" Tsvetelin Tsvetanov said that the vehicle inspections will continue until the end of this week. "We have planned some emergency inspections throughout the school year as well, and several specialized checks before the holidays", he added.
