26.05.2016

Amendments in the EU regulatory framework on electronic communications should ensure balance and transparency, said Deputy Minister Valery Borissov during a working lunch of the ministers responsible for competitiveness and telecommunications, which took place today in Brussels. In the discussions took part representatives of Belgium, Bulgaria, Czech Republic, Denmark, Finland, Ireland, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Poland, Slovakia, Slovenia, Sweden and the UK. The meeting was attended by Mr. Andrus Ansip - Vice-President of the European Commission and Commissioner for the Digital Single Market. Heads of delegations signed a letter regarding their views on digital market in Europe.

Specific proposals for amendments in the regulatory framework on electronic communications are expected to be made in September. They are in the field of copyright, privacy, prices for delivery of goods in e-commerce and the problem of blocking online content for certain countries.

Deputy Minister Valery Borissov underlined that all must be convinced that the new European legislation does not put obstacles to individuals and the business. He came out in favour of enhanced support for cross-border cooperation in the field of electronic communications.
