Minister Korman Ismailov: We continue working on key transport projects along the north-south corridor

We continue working on the priority international transport projects along the north-south corridor. The Minister of Transport and Communications, Korman Ismailov, said during a meeting with the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Romania to the Republic of Bulgaria, H. E. Brândușa Predescu. The main focus of the conversation was the progress of strategic infrastructure initiatives and the strengthening of regional connectivity between the two countries. During the meeting, information was exchanged about problems faced by Romanian carriers and transport companies on Bulgarian territory.

“My ambition is for the Ministry of Transport and Communications to build on what has been achieved and accelerate the implementation of key projects that have a direct impact on business, citizens and the economic development of our region,” Minister Ismailov emphasized. He highlighted the need for consistent efforts and good coordination between the institutions of the two countries.

During the conversation, the ferry connections, the acceleration of the Black Sea Motorway project, the progress on the second bridge over the Danube near Ruse, as well as the implementation of the memorandum on trilateral cooperation between Bulgaria, Romania and Greece for the Black Sea – Aegean Sea corridor were discussed. Minister Ismailov emphasized that these directions are of key importance for building a modern and reliable transport network.

For her part, H. E. Ambassador Brândușa Predescu assured that transport connectivity remains a top priority for the Romanian side as well. She emphasized that there has been no change in the commitment to the joint projects and that good bilateral cooperation at the expert and technical level is the foundation for their successful implementation.

“Bulgaria and Romania must and will go hand in hand and side by side on the path of their Euro-Atlantic development, because only in this way will we build upon stability, integration and prosperity in our part of the EU,” Minister Ismailov concluded.
