The Ministry of Transport Will Demand an Independent Expertise for the Demolition of a Suspended Ceiling of the New Airport Sofia Terminal 07.02.2006

On February 7, 2006 by an examination of the new passenger terminal on Sofia Airport a demolition of a suspended ceiling on an area of 500 square meters in the outside part of the building, intended for the technical equipment which maintains the airplanes. There are no casualties. The implementing of the demolished construction has been finished in August – September 2005.

With an official letter, the principal immediately informed all sides related to the project “Reconstruction, development, and extension of Sofia Airport”. Letters are sent to the Engineer NAKO, to the executor “Strabag”, to the Delegation of the European Commission and the European Investment Bank.

The Ministry of Transport is worried about the incident and will demand an independent expertise on that occasion and also in regard to the execution of all finishing works on the site.
