Finished The Public Discussion of the National Program for Port Development 12.05.2006

The public discussion of the national program for development of the ports 2006-2019 finished today with meeting in the Ministry of Transport. The Ministry of Transport was presented by the Minister of Transport Peter Mutafchiev, the director-executive of Executive Agency “Port Authority” captain Peicho Manolov and other experts. From side of the maritime branch all branch organizations ware invited. Representatives of the Bulgarian Branch Camber, The association of the Bulgarian private ports, The Bulgarian Maritime Camber and the Bulgarian association of the ship owners also took part if the meeting.

On the press conference Minister Peter Mutafchiev declared that the goal of the program is to prepare the future concession of the ports, as well to make the amount of the investments, which will be realized, more concrete.

This is the third meeting in a row, which is also the final one regarding the discussion of the national program. During the discussion the both sides considered great number of proposals of the branch organizations, 32 of which were accepted.

The national program was prepared according to the requirement of the Low of the Sea spaces, domestic water ways and ports of Republic of Bulgaria. The expectations are the National program to be presented in the Minister Council for discussions to the end of the next week.

During the press conference the representative of the Bulgarian Maritime Camber Rumen Nestorov said, that the organization is highly satisfied from the prepared program. He declared also that many problems will be resolved with it and the development of the Bulgarian ports and the naval transport will be guaranteed. Nestorov emphasized that the main advantage of this document is its concreteness.

As Kostadin Zografov, representative of the Association of the Bulgarian Private Ports said, the initiative of the Ministry of Transport, for open dialog between the state and the private branch, is a good approach from side of the management. As he also said, the program has integrative character and is a premise for the development of the normative base.
