The new bridge is part of the regional infrastructure projects of the Stability Pact and its constructing will eliminate one of the considerable hindrances to the development of the pan-European corridor number4, as part of the common European transport network. The building of the bridge near Vidin-Kalafat is one of the main priorities of the Bulgarian governmental policy for the development of the transport infrastructure and an important element from the policy to open the country to the European transport system in the process of the Bulgarian accession to the European union. The improvement of the access to the markets and the strengthening the competitiveness of the regional economic has a significant importance for the both countries Bulgaria and Rumania.
