OSJD Celebrates Its 50th Anniversary 14.06.2006

The railway organization for cooperation celebrated its 50th Anniversary today. This happened on the 34th session of the Ministry of Transport Conference of the member’s countries. It took place on June 12-15, 2006 in Sofia, Bulgaria.

With his opening speech the Minister of Transport said that the longevity of the organization is a good sign for its vitality and a serious challenge for its development in the future. The policy of the Ministry of Transport in regards to the railway transport has been defined on the basis of the European policy in this field, with consideration of the specific characteristics of our transport system. The necessity of serious investments in the railway transport determines the concentration of our efforts toward the achievement of a modern model of economical relations in the branch; and also more active applying of the public private partnership for attraction of non-budget investment capitals. The attendance of the forum demonstrates the determination and the will, together, in the spirit of cooperation and fellowship, to build up united, compatible, and stable railway transport system, also said Minister Mutafchiev.

The Premier Minister Sergey Stanishev sent a congratulatory letter to the participants of the conference and wished them successful and useful work. I am convinced that the present forum will conduce to achieve a better work coordination of our governments in the construction of the European – Asian transport system, adequate to the needs of the modern world, says Sergey Stanishev.

At 16.30 the final document is expected to be signed, after that the jubilee charters will be given to each one of the delegations.
