An Agreement Achieved Between the Ministry of Transport and Strabag about Sofia Airport 21.07.2006
Large size
The Ministry of Transport and Strabag signed a protocol. According to this document the new Sofia Airport facilities will be handed over in two stages.

The terminal building and part of the civil works airside will be handed over at the first stage. The remaining civil works airside will be handed over at the second stage.

The protocol was signed by the Deputy Minister Vesela Gospodinova on behalf of MT, Nematollah Farrokhnia on behalf of Strabag and Plamen Stanchev on behalf of ”Sofia Airport” EAD.

In the protocol, the accent was placed on the decision of MT and Strabag to convene a Take-over Working Group. The objectives of this Working-group will be to specify all necessary matters, including outstanding works (if any), documentation, certification, for the Take-over Certificate, and by coordination of MT to maintain all necessary contacts with the relevant Bulgarian authorities to ensure fulfillment of the outstanding requirements and the issuance of a partial Taking-over Certificate within the shortest time.

It was also decided that the Working group would meet as frequently as necessary to ensure the issuance of the partial Taking-over Certificate. A formal meeting will be held every week under the chairmanship of the Minister of Transport or Deputy Minister of Transport.

When the necessary works are completed, Strabag will make an application for the issuance of a Taking-over Certificate, commencing PMA replacement work in accordance with a schedule to be coordinated with SA.

Both Strabag and Mt agreed that all rights, commitments, obligations, and authorities ensuing from the Works Contract would be preserved.

This result was achieved after several-month long and difficult discussions.
