The Session of TRACECA National Secretaries from the Countries of the Main Multilateral Agreement Finished 24.07.2006

The Deputy Minister of Transport Georgi Peterneichev attended the Session of TRACECA national secretaries from the countries of the Main Multilateral Agreement, which took place on July 20th and 21st in Istanbul. Representatives of all TRACECA countries, The EC and running projects heads took part in the event.

During the meeting the main priorities of the standing Secretariat, which must be coordinated and approved on the next session of the national secretaries, were discussed. The new structure of the standing secretariat, proposed by the Secretary-General was also accepted. During the conversations the conception of the Secretary-General about the realization of the TRACECA MPK strategy was conferred. The countries shall present their notes and commentaries until August 16, 2006.

On the forum the national secretaries or their representatives considered the running and the coming projects of TRACECA:
• At the end of August the project of the EK “Trade Analysis and institutional Support” is finishing. A seminar regarding the results will take place in Stuttgart, Germany on August 16, 2006.
• A new project of EK”Analysis and prognosis of the Transportation Streams for TRACECA member-countries and interregional cooperation in the field of transport” starts with begin of the year 2007. The countries shall examine the content of the technical task and shall prepare their commentaries in order an application for acceptance to be submitted till August 2006.

It was also announced that the Agreement for joint-financing of PC of MPK TRACECA will operate from August 11, 2006, according to the final decrees. The date August 01, 2006 was also set for the standing secretariat expenses audit. The auditor’s group is composed of representatives from Kazakhstan, Azerbaijan, and Turkey, all namely approved during the 5th annual session of MPK TRACECA, which took place in Sofia on May 2-3, 2006.
