An emergency traffic control check at the border check-pint “Capitan Andreevo” was carried out today under the supervision of the Minister of Transport, Information Technology and Communications Ivaylo Moskovski.

Minister Moskovski said that the main purpose of the checks is to minimize the unregulated transport of passengers. In his words, the results from this year are promising and indicate a decrease of this type of offence. In 2014 a total of 125 unregulated transportations were reported, while their number since the beginning of this year has reached 43.

Minister Moskovski announced that as at the early hours of today’s inspection, which started at 4 a.m., experts form EA “Automobile Administration” issued 15 tickets among the 47 vehicles inspected. The Minister added that there will be extensive inspections of vehicles at other border check-points. The inspectors will monitor the compliance with the requirements for transportation of passengers and cargo, as well as the overall technical condition of the vehicles and the validity of the licenses.

During today’s checks a total of 21 tickets were issued among the 62 vehicles that were inspected. The main offences were related to irregularities of the tachographs, documents, missing copies of certificates and translations of licenses for international carriers.

Upon its entrance in Bulgaria a Turkish coach was temporarily suspended. EA “Automobile Administration” staff reported that the windscreen was cracked. On board they were not presented with the tachygraphy papers as well as information on the travel and rest times of driers in the past 28 days. The two motorists did not possess licenses either. The passengers will remain at the border check point until the arrival of another coach.
