The inspectors from EA Automobile Administration issued tickets at the total amount of 30000 levs during a five-hour inspection at the Bulgarian-Serbian border at cross-border check point Kalotina yesterday. The inspection focused mainly on buses entering the territory of Bulgaria. Eleven out of the 14 buses checked were given tickets.

The inspectors reported on mass-scale violation of the requirements for travel and rest times of motorists as well as offences related to the tachograph documents. One of the motorists did not possess a driving licence. One of the buses had a cracked windscreen and the driver received a ticket.

On 9 May 2015 in the area of the cross-border check point the authorities suspended a cargo van transporting 43 Syrian citizens, as well as a 7-seat vehicle transporting some 14 other Syrians. They declared before the inspectors that they had paid for the service. As a result the controlling authorities of EA Automobile Administration imposed fines on the motorist 1500 levs each and the vehicles were suspended for 6 months.

The inspections at the cross-border check points have been ordered by the Minister of Transport, Information Technology and Communications Ivaylo Moskovski. Their main purpose is to reduce to a minimum the unregulated transport of passengers by increasing the control of buses and trucks passing through the check points. As of the beginning of this year some 50 unregulated transportations have been reported.

We recall that on 27 April 2015 at the check point Kapitan Angreevo Minister Ivaylo Moskovski started a series of emergency inspections. A total of 21 tickets were issued to the 62 vehicles inspected. Two bus drivers did not possess driving licences. What is more onboard the bus the inspectors did not find any neither tachograph documents nor information on the travel and rest time of the drivers in the past 28 days.
