The 150th anniversary of the International Telecommunication Union has been marked by a thematic stamp. The validation seal was laid by the Deputy Minister of Transport, Information Technology and Communications Valery Borissov, the Executive Director of the Executive Agency "Electronic Communication Networks and Information Systems" Krassimir Simonski and the Director of "Bulgarian Posts" Deyan Daneshki.

With the special postal stamp edition we show respect to the organization under whose initiative we celebrate annually the World Day of Telecommunications and Information Society, said Deputy Minister Borissov during the ceremony. He recalled that this is one of the most influential specialized UN agencies. "We all take pride in the fact that Bulgaria is one of the first countries in the world to join the organization back in 1880, only 15 years after its foundation" said the Deputy Minister.

In his words, Bulgaria is one of the most actively represented countries in the union. "The fact that our country has been selected seven times in a row member of the organization, which is responsible for making decisions between conferences - the Council of the International Telecommunication Union, is recognition of our role in the development of the telecommunications world. Of all the 193 member states of the organization, a small part of them only is given that honor", he added.

The stamp symbolizes the revolutionary technological transition in the past 150 years - from the Morse machines that were considered top scientific achievements to the minicomputer that allows us to access billions of records of data. The stamp is circulated in 12 000 copies, and the artist of the project is Ilia Gruev.
