Fines amounting to nearly 14.000 levs during emergency inspection at "Kulata" checkpoint 22.05.2015
Large size

In less than seven hours IA "Automobile Administration" inspectors imposed fines of around 14.000 levs during yesterday’s inspection at cross-border checkpoint “Kulata”.

Some 13 buses were checked, and the inspectors reported 11 offences. Six of the drivers were found to have been driving without using the mandatory breaks. The Executive Director of Executive Agency "Automobile Administration" commented that these types of offenses are extremely serious, as they affect directly the safety of transportations. In his words, when drivers do not use mandatory breaks their reactions decrease drastically and they can fall asleep behind the wheel.

The inspectors found that the two drivers had been driving with switched record sheets, and one - without inserting the digital tachograph card. Two of the buses inspected were found to have technical failure - cracked windshield, and the drivers were fined.

Checks in the areas of border checkpoints are being carried out under the authority of the Minister of Transport, Information Technology and Communications Ivaylo Moskovski. The main purpose of the checks is to minimize unauthorized transportation of passengers as well as to increase the control over buses and trucks crossing the Bulgarian border checkpoints. Since the beginning of this year nearly 65 illegal transportations have been reported.

We recall that on 27 April 2015 at BCP "Kapitan Andreevo" under the authority of Minister Ivaylo Moskovski an emergency inspection was launched. On May 11, 2015 such an inspection was carried out also at checkpoint "Kalotina". Intensive checks will be carried out at other border crossings.
