The working groups tasked with finalizing the allocation of rolling stock, the lease of buildings and tracks, the train timetable, and the joint ticketing system between BDZ and “Ivkoni Express” following December 13, 2026, have reached an agreement. Today, representatives of both companies, together with the National Railway Infrastructure Company (NRIC) and the Railway Administration Executive Agency, reported their outcomes during a meeting with the Minister of Transport and Communications, Georgi Peev.
“Through dialogue and constructive work, we can find solutions to all issues and ensure the timely fulfillment of the commitments undertaken,” stated Minister Peev.
Special emphasis during the meeting was placed on safeguarding the rights of railway sector employees. Minister Peev insisted that working conditions and social benefits for personnel transferring to the private operator be preserved over the long term. Topics discussed included the application of the collective bargaining agreement, social rights, complimentary travel passes for railway workers, and other benefits currently enjoyed by employees within the system.
By the middle of next week, meetings between BDZ management and trade unions must be held, a compatibility test of the ticketing systems is to be conducted, and a draft agreement governing personnel guarantees is to be prepared.
The Ministry of Transport and Communications will continue to coordinate the preparation process to ensure that the service launches on schedule and in full compliance with the commitments undertaken toward passengers and railway sector employees.
