The modernization of the railway stations Zimnitsa and Straldzha has been completed

The railway section from Plovdiv to Bourgas is one of the busiest and most important in Bulgaria, because it connects not only the interior of the country with our sea ports, but also Europe with Asia. Deputy Minister of Transport and Communications Lyuben Nanov said during an event to complete the project "Reconstruction of the track switch layout at Zimnitsa station and rehabilitation of the contact network at Zimnitsa and Straldzha stations." It is part of the large-scale project for the rehabilitation of the Plovdiv-Burgas railway line.

Deputy Minister Nanov explained that Zimnitsa station, built more than 130 years ago, occupies an important part of the country's railway history, as one of the main points of passage. "Together with Straldzha station, they generate over 70,000 passengers a year and nearly 60 fast and passenger trains pass through there daily," Nanov said. "With the implementation of the project, the infrastructure in this section already allows driving speeds of up to 160 km/h," the Deputy Minister of Transport said.

The event was attended by the Regional Governor of Yambol Nikolay Kostadinov, the Head of the Managing Authority of the Transport Connectivity Program 2021-2027. Martin Georgiev, Deputy Director General of the National Railway Infrastructure Company Neli Andreeva, representatives of the local government, the contractor company, construction supervision representatives, and others.

Project "Reconstruction of the track switch layout of Zimnitsa station and rehabilitation of the contact network in Zimnitsa and Straldzha stations", part of the project "Rehabilitation of the railway line Plovdiv–Burgas, Phase 2 - Stage II" is funded under the Transport Connectivity Programme 2021-2027. The value of the site is BGN 27,225,903.
