All structures within MTITC are ready to deal with crisis weather conditions

In relation to forecasts on worsening weather conditions in northern Bulgaria within the Ministry of Transport, Information Technology and Communications were undertaken all necessary preventive measures, stated the Deputy Chairman of the National Headquarters for Disaster Protection of Population and a Minister of Transport, Information Technology and Communications Ivaylo Moskovski.

By order of Minister Moskovski all river and sea ports are ready to close, to stop the maneuvers of vessels and render assistance to operational teams.

Minister Ivaylo Moskovski confirmed that the teams of "National Railway Infrastructure Company", SE "Transport Construction and Rehabilitation" and SE "Communications Construction and Rehabilitation" are at the disposal of the authorities of the Ministry of Interior.

For the cleaning of the railway infrastructure after heavy snowfalls and drifts are provided the necessary snowplows with diesel traction. "I presume that efforts be focused mainly on clearing of overhead lines and removal of potential fallen trees," added the Minister.

Employees of Executive Agency "Road Transport Administration" will provide support to the teams of the Ministry of Interior and the Road Infrastructure Agency regarding the control of heavy vehicles. Minister Moskovski said that still yesterday all associations of the hauliers in Bulgaria have been informed to avoid travelling from Thursday to Sunday, unless absolutely necessary.

In the Ministry was received the assurance of the providers of mobile services of existing organization to deal with significant snowfalls, power cuts and difficult access to places where base stations are situated. Backup generators have been prepared, a refueling has been made, a system for remote control of tanks has been mounted and prevention of equipment has been conducted. Additional teams with off-road vehicles have been provided for servicing of hardly accessible sites.
