Attracting women in the ICT sector is part of the national policies of the Black Sea Economic Cooperation countries

Initiatives on attracting more women in the field of information and communication technologies were presented among the countries from the BSEC region at a workshop. The Ministry of Transport, Information Technology and Communications hosted the event, which is part of the Bulgarian Presidency of the BSEC Organization. The participants agreed that attracting women in ICT sector is part of the national policies that need to be developed.

During the discussions the positions of Armenia, Bulgaria, Georgia, Moldova, the Russian Federation, Romania and Turkey were presented. The EU Commissioner for Digital Economy and Society, Maria Gabriel made a video address to the participants.

During the Workshop was noted that ICT is being increasingly important sector for the economic and social benefit of the countries, in recent years and we face the need to attract more people to this field. The fact that women are still under-represented in this sector is a potential to attract more high-skilled resources to an area of ever-growing significance for any country, concluded the participants in the event.
