Grant schemes for green transport worth 126 million BGN are to be opened for business

Two grant schemes for investments in green transport worth more than 126 million BGN will be opened for business in 2024. This was announced by the Minister of Transport and Communications Georgi Gvozdeykov at the opening of the Logistics Business Conference "Smart, green and sustainable transport and logistics", organized by the Bulgarian Transport Press.

"In this programming period, under the Transport Connectivity Programme, we are providing greater opportunities for businesses to get involved through public-private partnerships in transport projects," Minister Gvozdeykov explained. In his words, one grant scheme is aimed at intermodal operators and is worth 34.5 million BGN, earmarked for the construction of new and development of existing intermodal terminals in the country. Another 92 million BGN are directed to projects for charging stations for alternative fuels on the road network and in ports. "We are currently developing the conditions for application and we are going to open the projects early next year," the Transport Minister said.

Georgi Gvozdeykov said that at the moment active work is being done on the digitalization of services that are used daily by transport and logistics companies. "We have proposed changes to the Road Transport Act to ensure that the electronic consignment note now performs the same functions as the paper one. The law has already been tabled in the National Assembly and its consideration is pending," the Transport Minister said. He was adamant that the introduction of the electronic consignment note will save a lot of time and resources for logistics companies and carriers, and at the same time will significantly improve control by the state.

The event, organized for the 11th consecutive year, brings together over 270 representatives of 120 companies working in the logistics sector. Among the topics of the conference are the latest trends related to the development and management of transport and logistics chains.
