Ministers Georgi Gvozdeykov and Andrey Tsekov inspected the "Europe" highway between Kalotina and Dragoman

With the establishment of transport connectivity with Serbia, we can now say that Asia is one step closer to Europe. This was said by the Minister of Transport and Communications Georgi Gvozdeykov during a joint inspection with the Minister of Regional Development and Public Works Andrey Tsekov of the newly built section from Dragoman to Kalotina of the motorway "Europe".

Minister Gvozdeykov explained that the overall construction of the motorway "Europe" is to be completed in 2024. "There remains one small section in the lot Slivnitsa - Sofia, which is being worked on and progress is great," he added and stressed that the cost of the section from Dragoman to Sofia is BGN 424 million, provided by OP "Transport and Transport Infrastructure" 2014-2020.

The Transport Minister commented that until a few years ago the journey from Sofia to Kalotina took hours and next year this distance will be covered in less than half an hour. "We are creating conditions for faster and safer transport, which is beneficial for both people and businesses," said Gvozdeykov.

The Minister of Regional Development and Public Works Andrey Tsekov pointed out that the route from Dragoman to Kalotina is already open for traffic and a state acceptance commission is to be held for the issuance of Act 16. "Highways are the circulatory system of our economy and our standard of living," Andrey Tsekov further stressed.
