MTITC proposes seven initiatives under the Bulgarian Presidency of the EU Council

The Ministry of Transport, Information Technology and Communications will organize a series of events in the field of transport policy and telecommunications, as part of the calendar of the forthcoming Bulgarian Presidency of the EU Council in 2018. The initiatives were proposed after extensive public consultation, including with NGOs and ICT businesses and is due to be agreed with the EU institutions.

During the Presidency Bulgaria is expected to host an informal meeting of Ministers of Transport, as well as the "European Maritime Day" Forum, established under the initiative of the European Commission, the European Parliament and the EU Council.

The event "European Maritime Day" which will be held in Bourgas, traditionally gathers stakeholders from all sectors of the maritime economy and aims at discussing opportunities and challenges facing the various maritime areas in Europe.

Accent in the "Telecommunications" part is the conference "Digital Assembly." This forum is annually held under the Presidency of various countries. It involves delegations of the Member States, business representatives from the EU and of the countries that are negotiating to join the Union and the European Economic Area. During the conference Bulgarian companies in the field of information technology and telecommunications will present their opportunities for business and partnership with other European companies and organizations. Participants in the "Digital Assembly" will be also representatives of the Bulgarian Government and Parliament.

Under the Bulgarian Presidency are also envisaged to take place in Sofia the European Data Forum; a Conference: "Cyber Challenges"; a Conference: "Digital competence" and a conference - "Internet Challenges". The events are consistent with the initiatives related to the implementation of the EU Digital Single Market Strategy.
