Intergovernmental European Telecommunications Satellite Organization (EUTELSAT IGO)

The Intergovernmental European Telecommunications Satellite Organization (EUTELSAT IGO) was established on 2 July 2001 after privatization of the European Satellite Communications Organization (EUTELSAT). As a result, the company  Eutelsat S.A. was formed. The intergovernmental organization EUTELSAT IGO now has the function of policy-making and supervision of the company.

Eutelsat S.A. is the leading satellite operator in Europe. Its main task is to provide the satellite capacity required for international telecommunication services and for radio and television broadcasting.

Bulgaria is a member of EUTELSAT since 21st May 1996 and participates in the work of the international organization. For the period 2022-2023 Bulgaria was elected a member of the Advisory Committee of EUTELSAT IGO.
