Bulgaria and Greece will attract investors through joint projects

Bulgaria and Greece will attract investors through joint projects. This was agreed during a meeting between the Bulgarian Government delegation and the Minister of Development and Investments of Greece, Adonis Georgiadis. The Deputy Prime Minister for Economic Policies and Minister of Transport and Communications Hristo Alexiev, as well as the Minister of Economy and Industry Nikola Stoyanov and the Minister of Energy Rossen Hristov took part in the talks.

The major projects that Bulgaria and Greece jointly implement in the field of transport and energy are the basis for strengthening economic relations between the two countries and increasing investor interest in the region, the participants in the talks emphasized. Deputy Prime Minister Alexiev gave an example referring to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, which is interested in projects such as the gas connection, the hydrogen economy and others. "By uniting the strengths of the two countries, we will achieve greater overall success", the Deputy Prime Minister noted.

"In the last six months, we have seen increased interest in investment and change in supply chains. That is why it is very important to work together with our Greek colleagues and to the maximum extent use all opportunities to attract new capital in the region", Minister Nikola Stoyanov pointed out. The trade exchange between Bulgaria and Greece was increased by nearly 30% in 2021 and exceeded 4.3 billion euros, as it was pointed out during the meeting.

The Greek side emphasized the results that Bulgaria was achieving in attracting investment in the automotive industry and expressed a desire for partnership in this area. The possibility of working to attract new investors was discussed by combining the strengths of the two countries – the transport connectivity of Greece with its ports, the experience of Bulgaria and the qualified Bulgarian personnel in this field.

Bulgaria and Greece will also work to create joint centers for innovation and promotion of the startup environment. This was agreed upon during the meeting, and Minister Stoyanov invited his Greek counterpart to Bulgaria, where they could visit Sofia Tech Park together and outline joint initiatives in this field.
