Bulgaria submits its candidacy for the Council of the International Telecommunication Union

Bulgaria is submitting its candidacy for re-election to the Council of the International Telecommunication Union for the 2027-2030 mandate. Deputy Minister of Transport and Communications Dimitar Nedyalkov emphasized at the World Telecommunication Development Conference held in Baku. The event is organized by the International Telecommunication Union. Bulgaria has been a member of the organization since 1880. The World Conference is a platform for the adoption of global technology development strategies and policies for digital transformation, as well as for the development of cooperation aimed at bridging the digital divide.

Deputy Minister Dimitar Nedyalkov presented the policy and the digital connectivity projects of the Ministry of Transport and Communications. He pointed out that the goal of the largest investment in high-speed internet is to provide wider access to digital services and technological innovation.

During his participation in the conference, the Deputy Minister spoke with the Secretary General of the International Telecommunication Union, Doreen Bogdan-Martin, as well as with her deputy, Thomas Lamanaskas. Bilateral meetings were also held to present Bulgaria’s candidacy to the delegations of the United States, Great Britain, Azerbaijan, Brazil, Japan, France, Jordan, Benin, Samoa, Rwanda, Bahrain, Serbia.
