The Ministry of Transport and Communications announces the launch of the campaign for collecting proposals for themes of postage stamps to be issued in 2026. Submissions will be accepted until 31 August 2025.
Proposed themes should relate to anniversaries that are multiples of 25 and highlight notable figures and events from Bulgarian and global history, culture, science, and public life. Preference will be given to themes that promote cultural and scientific achievements, as well as distinguished individuals and significant events. The full selection criteria are published on the official website of the Ministry of Transport and Communications.
Each annual thematic plan typically includes around 30 major issues. All submitted proposals are reviewed by the Specialised Expert Council on Stamp Issuance. Approved designs are entrusted to established artists with experience in philatelic illustration. For certain issues, anonymous design competitions are held. In 2025, the Ministry selected the artists for three stamp issues through such competitions, and one of the stamps included in a block was designed based on children’s drawings.
