The Government adopted a decision to terminate Plovdiv Railway Station Concession Contract. The proposal to terminate the contract was made by the concessionaire. Plovdiv Railway Station Concession Contract was concluded in 2013 and entered into force in 2015. The reason for the termination of the Concession Contract was the construction activities started by the National Railway Infrastructure Company (NRIC)on the territory of the station under the Plovdiv Railway Junction Development Project, which is financed with funds from the EU. The construction will prevent the use of the concession site for an extended period of time.
With the same decision, the Government authorized the Minister of Transport and Communications to conclude an Agreement with the concessionaire for early termination of the contract by mutual consent of the parties. The transfer of management of the station complex to NRIC will allow the company to continue at an accelerated pace the work on the construction of Plovdiv Railway Junction and the City Railway.
