The construction of the Ruse-Veliko Tarnovo Motorway is gradually accelerating, and BGN 300 million are expected to be paid to the Road Infrastructure Agency by the end of the year under the Transport Connectivity Programme 2021-2027. This became clear during an information event about the project, which was held in the town of Byala.
The total budget of the European programme is nearly BGN 3.7 billion, and from it a grant of over BGN 1 billion, or 28% of the budget, has been provided for the motorway. This underlines the importance of the project both for transport connectivity and for the successful implementation of the Transport Connectivity Programme as a whole.
The implementation of this project will ensure safer travel, faster access to services and new opportunities for business and education. It is an example of the partnership between Bulgaria and the EU, and of the real impact of European funding on the regions.
According to Martin Georgiev, Head of the Managing Authority of the European Programme, the implementation of this project is important not only for the specific investment, but also for the overall implementation of the programme within the period during which the funds are available to the country.
The public event was attended by Yordanka Chobanova, Head of the EC Representation in Bulgaria, Dragomir Draganov, Regional Governor of Ruse, representatives of the Ministry of Transport and Communications and the Road Infrastructure Agency.
