Today, as communications evolve at the speed of the digital world, the postage stamp reminds us that true progress is built on remembrance, knowledge, and continuity. This was stated by the Deputy Minister of Transport and Communications, Anna Natova, during a stamp validation ceremony at the University of Telecommunications and Post.
"We pay well-deserved tribute to an institution that has been building knowledge and professionalism for over 145 years," said Deputy Minister Natova. She recalled that it was in 1881, by decree of Prince Alexander I Battenberg, that the postal and telegraph administrations were merged, the State Telegraph and Postal School was established, and the first Law on Telegraphs and Post Offices was adopted—decisions that laid the foundations of Bulgaria’s modern communications system.
In her words, the symbolism of the commemorative stamp carries a powerful message about the link between history and the future. "On it, we see the stylised image of Prince Alexander I Battenberg, the school building, and its preserved emblem—artistic symbols that connect the beginnings and development of the Bulgarian postal and telecommunications services," noted Anna Natova.
The Deputy Minister stressed the importance of continuity and the role of young people at the University of Telecommunications and Post, noting that they must be aware of their affiliation with an institution that has a historic mission. "Behind every new technology stand generations of specialists, educators, and statesmen who have worked with vision and dedication," Deputy Minister Natova noted.
