Deputy Minister of Transport and Communications Murad Turk awarded employees of the Bulgarian State Railways and the National Railway Infrastructure Company for their professional and quick response during the two train accidents last week. On Friday, a passenger train hit a fallen land mass as a result of a landslide in the Raduntsi-Dabovo section, and a day later a fast train derailed in the Tsareva Livada-Tryavna intersection after hitting a rock mass.
During the ceremony, Deputy Minister Turk thanked on behalf of Minister Korman Ismayilov and on his own behalf the transport brigades of the two trains, the drivers, as well as the operating staff involved in the rapid clearing of the affected sections.
"With your actions, you have proven that professionalism and responsibility are not just words, but a guiding principle in your work," said Murad Turk. He stressed that due to the timely reaction of the drivers and the coordinated actions of the teams, more serious consequences were prevented. "You are an example of high competence and ability to make the right decisions at a critical time," the Deputy Transport Minister added.
He also emphasized the efforts of NRIC employees, who despite the severe weather conditions have restored traffic in a short time. “Your work often stays out of the public eye, but I have worked in the field and I know what it means to perform your duties in these conditions. As one of you, I appreciate what you have done and you can always count on me, "said Murad Turk.
