Deputy Minister of Transport and Communications Murad Turk and the Chairman of the Management Board of the National Railway Infrastructure Company Maria Genova inspected the construction and installation works in the Elin Pelin-Kostenets railway section, part of a large-scale project to modernize the railway line from Sofia to Plovdiv.
The two inspected the three lots from the division – Lot 1: "Modernization of the railway section from km 22+554 to km 42+200", Lot 2: "Modernization of the railway section from km 42+200 to km 62+400" and Lot 3: "Modernization of the railway section from km 62+400 to km 73+598". The inspection also included progress on the construction of tunnels, bridges and a rail road. The section is among the most complex in the country due to the mountainous terrain and the significant number of engineering facilities.
During the inspection, Deputy Minister Turk met with representatives of the contractors and discussed the progress of the project. The talks focused on speeding up construction activities and overcoming the technical challenges related to the implementation of the project.
