Deputy Minister Murad Turk: We are working on a comprehensive analysis to increase the efficiency of the transport sector

We are carrying a comprehensive analysis in order to increase the efficiency of the transport sector. The aim is to speed up the processes and improve the quality of services for citizens. The Deputy Minister of Transport and Communications, Murad Turk, who attended the official launch of the new Siemens Smartron electric locomotive named “Vasil Levski”, said. The event, which took place today in Karlovo, was attended by Martin Angelov, Executive Director of Holding BDZ Holding EAD, Dr. Emil Kabaivanov, Mayor of Karlovo Municipality, Donyo Todorov, Chairman of the Municipal Council, and others.

“The new locomotive is the last under the contract for the delivery of 10 electric machines. With its commissioning, the locomotives of the Smartron series have now reached 25,” Deputy Minister Turk said.

He noted that, according to BDZ data, the new locomotives provide about a quarter of the required electrical power. This contributes to the more regular movement of trains and shortens the travel time along the Sofia-Burgas route.

Eng. Murad Turk emphasized that one of the top priorities of the Ministry of Transport and Communications is the responsible management of public funds. “With consistency and professionalism, we will continue to develop railway transport as a reliable and modern service,” Deputy Minister Turk said.

During his visit, Deputy Minister Turk met with employees at the railway station and got acquainted on the spot with the problems at work. He emphasized that feedback from staff is very important for making management decisions.
