Deputy Minister Turk checked the progress of modernization at Sofia Central Station

Deputy Minister of Transport and Communications Murad Turk visited Sofia Central Station, where he got acquainted with the progress in the implementation of the project for modernization of the track development. The inspection involved the management of the National Railway Infrastructure Company, representatives of the contractor company and the construction supervision.

During the inspection, the current construction and installation activities were reviewed, as well as the compliance with the set deadlines and technical parameters. The representatives of the contractor informed about the progress of the reconstruction of the railway track and the adjacent infrastructure.

During the visit, Deputy Minister Turk also inspected the modernization activities of the Sofia-Elin Pelin railway line, where construction and installation works are also being carried out.

He stressed the importance of the two projects to improve rail transport in the capital and increase safety and quality of service. "Their implementation will contribute to improving the capacity and better connectivity in the region," said Deputy Minister Turk.

The modernization of the track development of Sofia Central Station is part of the project for the rehabilitation of the railway section Sofia-Voluyak, which is to be completed in 2029, and the rehabilitation of the railway line Sofia-Elin Pelin is expected to be completed in 2028, and a tender procedure for the selection of a contractor is underway for the section from Iskar to Elin Pelin.
