Deputy Prime Minister Karadzhov: Kaloyanchev didn’t just play the roles, he lived them

The actors who have made us think, who have made us laugh through our tears, are our enlighteners, and by preserving their memory from generation to generation, their images and roles, we preserve the Bulgarian spirit. The Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Transport and Communications Grozdan Karadzhov said during the validation of a postage stamp commemorating “100 years since the birth of Georgi Kaloyanchev.” He put a stamp for the release of the edition together with the director of the Aleko Konstantinov Satirical Theatre, Kalin Sarmenov, and the artist Todor Angeliev.

“With this stamp, we see again and again the image of Kaloyanchev in the dozens of roles with which he made audiences laugh and cry. But above all, we will remember him as the actor who did not play the roles, but who lived them, and through them Bulgaria lived as well,” Grozdan Karadzhov added. He summarized that this stamp is a visual continuation of the message that the actor put in his autobiography “I’m Alive, I’m Yours”.

The theme of the great Bulgarian actors has been present in stamp publishing for more than 80 years. In 2022, we celebrated 100 years since the birth of Stoyanka Mutafova. Last year – of Apostol Karamitev and Radoy Ralin. And now – Georgi Partsalev and Georgi Kaloyanchev. “All the names before whom we bow. All the voices that continue to resonate,” the Deputy Prime Minister added.

The ceremony was attended by theatre actors, relatives and fans of Georgi Kaloyanchev.
