The execution of the approved operational plan for securing and subsequently towing the tanker KAIROS is commencing. It was prepared jointly by the Executive Agency "Maritime Administration" and the operation's contractor, BMF TUG Service.
This morning, an emergency marine generator with a capacity of 150 kW, intended to restore the operation of the tanker's anchoring equipment, was delivered to the port of Burgas. The generator will be loaded onto a workboat along with the necessary power supply equipment and mooring lines.
Tomorrow (Sunday), the workboat will transport the generator to the tanker KAIROS. A technical team will board the vessel to connect the power supply, test the anchoring equipment, and restore the function of the port anchor, with the aim of ensuring safe conditions for the next stage of the operation.
On 15 December (Monday), three tugboats are scheduled to move into the area of the tanker and begin raising the anchor and towing, in accordance with the approved plan. The operation is expected to conclude on the same day with the safe anchoring of the tanker in a pre-designated area in the Bay of Burgas.
Throughout the entire operation, the Executive Agency "Maritime Administration" will exercise constant control and coordination, taking all necessary measures to guarantee the safety of shipping and the protection of the marine environment.
